Whether in person or virtually, an author visit is a wonderful opportunity for your students to connect with the person and process behind the story as well as set the stage to engage and inspire a wide range of future readers and writers. Not only do author visits offer a fun break from the classroom routine, but they also introduce students to the processes of writing, developing characters, and expressing one’s creativity.
Why would I be great for your school?
Before becoming a mother of two, I’ve always had a love for children and passion for early childhood education. My presentation is entertaining, inspiring, and can be tailored to specific grade-level content. Along with a read-aloud of my book, I will discuss my journalism background, my journey as an author, the lessons my books teach, and how I used the writing process to become an author.
Author Visit Options:
Skype Visit: 45 minutes

Author Assembly (for grades K-6) 1 Hour:
• Read aloud of It’s In You and discussion of the books theme/message
• An audiovisual presentation about the author’s background, working in entertainment news and the journey of becoming an author.
• Fascinating Facts Game (A true or false game which covers cool facts about caterpillars and butterflies.)
• Question-and-answer session with the audience
• Book signing (Books would need to be pre-ordered weeks in advance of school visit)

Having worked for both television and print news, with some of the top executives and producers in the business. Sharifa has key insider information, that she never learned within the walls of an academic institution. With her unique experience and candid knowledge of the business, she breaks down the tools necessary to break in and stay in, as the industry continues to evolve.

What drives you? Fear or Love? Ask a seven-year-old what they want to be when they grow up and they will tell you without hesitation! See children grow up believing they can be anything. That’s until they become adults and get their first rejection, or some other person convinces them otherwise. Ultimately being fearless doesn’t mean you never get scared. It means you’re scared, but you go for it anyway. Sharifa a.k.a “Mrs. Fearless” knows first hand what a fearful or fearless mindset can do. Through her own personal stories, she inspires and encourages people of all ages to do more than just “dream big” but achieve it! We only get one life to use all of our gifts and talents, this is not rehearsal, it’s now or never!
